Ghost Hunter's Lament
a classic dilemma: be careful what you wish for...

Twelve bells ring in the musty dark,
Pendulum swings and midnight chimes.
My sensor blazes while crystalline shards
Shower the room--glass confetti.

Lamplight flickers as the door slams shut,
Heartbeats flutter, quiver and quake.
Moans ooze from behind floral wallpaper,
Muscle, sinew and bone begin to shake.

Clock tolls One, and Hell looses its fury
Upon me, blood spurting from floors,
Ungodly cries lurch from the basement,
Stench of beasts, “Mother of whores!”

I ran for safety, through door or window,
Left my gadgets to wreck and ruin,
Proof be damned, my neck’s in danger,
I’ll fake a video of ghosts which flew in.
