Return to Dust

Where is youth's sweet promise?
Those days in the sun,
when we dared dream ...
and our passions did run!

Replaced with knowledge,
we've mistaken for wisdom.
We have built our lives
on a deceitful kingdom.

Time has slipped away!
Our conceit full grown.
Lost now, forever ...
things we should have known.

The harvest is full!
Still, we cling to our lust.
Spiraling ever down ...
we return to the dust.
