                                Ghazal 111


Persian:  Gulistaan naseem e sahar yaaftast
              Saba ghuncha ra khufta dar yaaftast
Urdu:      Gulistaan naseem e sahar yaafta
              Nihaal e mohabbat samar yaafta

English:=== Blowing in the garden is the morning breeze
                  And the flowers are flirting with the birds and the bees
                                        -

Persian:  Chunaan khab deedast nargis ba khab
              Keh goie keh o jaam e zar yaafast
Urdu:      Hui mast o makhmoor nargis keh wo
              Bahaaraan maen hay jaam e zar yaafta

English:=== The primrose is proud and looks so grand
                  Has a tulip in waiting with a cup in hand
                                          -


Persian:  Khabar neest mer bulbul e mast ra
              Keh az mastiash gul khabar yaaftast
Urdu:      Khabar hay na kuchh bulbul e mast ko
              Keh gul ho gaay haen khabar yaafta 

English:=== The birds are feeling very hearty and hale
                  And singing a song is the nightingale
                                          -

Persian:  Keh gooyam keh sangeen dilash heech waqt
              Zay sooz e dil e mun asar yaaftast 
Urdu:      Maen kaisay kahoun yaar e sangeendil
              Hua souz e dil say asar yaafta

                  But she is not here and I'm so sad

Persian:  Ba pa e khayaalat faroreekht chashm
              Durray kaan ba khoon e jigar yaaftast
Urdu:      Bichhaie haen aankhaen teri rah maen
              Keh haen durr e khoun e jigar yaafta

                  I have no choice but to watch and wait

Persian:  Basa shab keh beedaar KHUSRO nashist
              Keh shaam e ghamash ra sahar yaaftast
Urdu:      Hay ummeed KHUSRO ko bus ik yahee
              Keh shab aek ho gi sahar yaafta
