" Memory in a Photo"

A tribute to our soldiers fighting for liberty.
Dark shadows of the moon

swirling lonely in the wind,

a memory marching song

for soldiers on their knees,

proudly fighting for liberty

our families back home -

Reading guns splattering

tracer bullets everywhere,

sand to dust in darkness

our troops fading away,

the tears too late to cry

dying breathing a prayer -

We see flames in the sky

exploding into fragments,

mushroom clouds drifting

swirling poison into dust,

God in mercy our Savior

for families now weeping -

The children hiding afraid

crying with their mother’s,

hearing the last gun salute

a national flag for bravery,

a purple ribbon in a photo

proud men safe in heaven.

Documented by my Dad

the author who survived,

broken and torn mentally

scarred alone in his mind,

mumbling his memories

carved on grave stones.
