Forgiveness is the Key
Rated: E | Poetry | Adult | #1482613
The little girl sits alone in the dark. Her loneliness so thick and so stark......
FORGIVENESS IS THE KEY

The little girl sits alone in the dark.
Her loneliness so thick and so stark;
The little girl cries tears made from her pain.
Her fear has all the power again;
The little girl has no one; her adults are sick.
Her dreams---relentless terrors---she cannot kick.
The little girl in fitful sleep tosses and turns.
Her young mind---for love---it always yearns.
The little girl barely breathes and pretends to be asleep.
The man---in the dark---he does creep.
The little girl hides away---in her mind---another takes her place.
The man---takes the girl and she can’t forget his face.
The little girl soaks her pillow with her tears.
The man---in the dark---fills all of her fears.
The little girl grows to a woman from a child.
The man---another little girl has he defiled.

And so it goes time after time and day after day.
The man depends on silence so never will he pay.

The woman sits alone in the dark.
Her loneliness so thick and so stark;
The woman cries tears made of her pain.
Her fear has all the power again.
The woman has no one---because---she is sick.
Her nights---relentless habits---she cannot kick.
The woman in fitful sleep tosses and turns.
Her damaged mind---for love---it always yearns.
The woman barely breathes and seems to be asleep.
Men---in and out of her life they do creep.
The woman stays high and lets drugs take her place.
Men---come and they go till she no longer sees a face.
The woman soaks her pillow with her tears.
Men---in the dark fill all of her fears.
The woman feels the pain of her damaged inner child.
The man---long ago---the little girl---he defiled.

The woman dances the dance of broken dreams,
But she may have found the answer so it seems.
Late in the night the Spirit of Forgiveness touches her heart.
Then some of her demons reluctantly do depart.
She prays to the Spirit, she chooses to call God.
And He takes her fears when His head He does nod.
The drugs and the alcohol no longer does she need.
God whispers---Forgiveness is the seed.
Forgiveness is the key to healing all her pain.
Her fear has no power to hurt her again.
Forgiveness brings acceptance of life on life’s terms.
Then all of her virtues and talents God affirms.
She learns she is more than a thing to be used.
That never does she need to hurt herself or be abused;
God gives her all the love for which she yearns.
In the heart lies Forgiveness she learns.

And so it goes time and time and day after day.
On God she depends and to Him she does pray.
