Day Three Prompt - Freestyle Writing Challenge: Terror from the Deep
Hidden currents in black depths swirl A shudder runs through, a violet light In the gloom, does an electric eel unfurl? Down there it seems anything might. What is the use of muttered prayers? Even as one cleanses one thing vile, Another boils up from concealed layers, defeating valour, effort and guile. Ah, it is within me, malicious beast, Root out stygian nadir of despair, It drags me down from less to least, When once I was, so wondrous fair. But, wait! Some how awareness keen has wrought change, thought ‘tis slight Danger is no longer hidden unseen, Knowledge will prove the needed light. Each small step, resolute, clear, Harness broken, gloom receding, No longer true that my own fear, Grows and is upon itself feeding.
