Evil can overwhelm us
If it deliberately clashes.
One can encounter evil
And be prepared to lose all.

Yet one can’t always
Avoid the places
Where evil dwells.
It is there in people’s
Minds and souls
That surround us.

It lives in bitter minds
And nurtured on malice,
It plots and schemes
Against beneficence.

A person who covets
Another’s glory and gifts
Another’s beauty and wits
Is the handle with which evil acts.

Let us counter evil
With deeds that conquer
The bad and erase the ill will
Letting goodness shine brighter.
