Secrets in the Leaves
Sometimes one has to listen for the silent screams, they are asking for help.

Day 5 : Prompt: Is there anybody there?

Secrets in the leaves, scarred slim boughs
Faintest rustles, pained whimpers soft
Quelled spirit, dulled mind no outcry allows
Echoing silence of fleeing birds aloft.

Second and third guesses abound
Memories burrow worm-like
Wriggling without the sound
Numb acceptance, fate will strike.

Cannot others see without my showing?
Does not agony carry on the air?
Are they uncaring, or are they unknowing?
Hullo? Isn’t Anybody there?
