I Weep
For news I wish to un-invite, I weep. Tears inside, appear strong in spite, I weep. I follow the prescribed cancer regime - fight carcinoma's parasite, I weep. In ghostly existence move through the day, pondering my fate, I sit tight, I weep. As days dissolve and I fear life is lost on dark bed suffering my plight, I weep. Ten thousand rivers of tears sent flowing back to sea by cover of night, I weep. Sun rays through cathedral windows bathe me kneeling entombed in colored light, I weep. With a bowed head and humbled heart pray I, ‘Mercy’, cried from my depths; contrite, I weep. While waiting here for ‘days without number’, still grieve here for my life finite, I weep. The time may be at hand, “Now dress your wounds, stand, Catherine, don’t hide”, all right, I weep. - poem in Ghazal form, 10 syllable meter
