The Island of My Longing     by PaulZ ~ Je Suis Le Reve ~

Hard rowing is no good, you see,
upon life's vast and churning sea.
It blurs horizons; clouds my mind,
and leaves me with no hope to find
    the island of my longing!

For should I search my whole life's span
in fervent hope to reach its sand
the only shores I'll ever see
will be the ones that cannot be
    the island of my longing!

It seems when you reach for a star
to whisk you from the where you are,
you cause your dream to fade and dip.
Behind the wake made by your ship:
    the island of your longing!

I cannot chart the course of life,
nor skirt its rocks and shoals and strife-
I bow therefore to life, anew,
in deep belief it leads me to
    the island of my longing!

The Island of Your Longing     by BlüEyez

I hear your heart call longingly
across life's vast and restless sea.
Against its plunging swells, you've fought
to reach horizons blindly sought,
while in your stormy eyes, unclear,
lie dreams lost in a million tears.
   This island cries for you.

I send to you my silent prayer—
impassioned whispers in the air.
Please let the winds of destiny
return your homeless heart to me.
Embrace the peace that nature's found
and soon you will be homeward bound.
   This island waits for you.

I long to hold you at my shore.
You know me, for we've loved before.
When morning lifts the hem of night,
in dawning blush we will unite
as lovers of some ancient flow
who reached 'cross time from long ago.
   This island longs for you.

Caress me with your touch anew
and gaze into the ageless blue;
my eyes, the skies of yesterday.
Again, I'll steal your breath away
and breathe my soul back into you.
Each breathless moment sends you to
   the island of your longing.
