Are there or were there Native American Princesses? A member, Ruby and I e-mailed each other about this. This is what I came up with.

You see advertisements in a catalog and they sell dolls, Bradford Exchange sells plates and the list goes on. I saw an ad for a Native American Princess Doll. She was dressed in pure white witha flower head band. They called her the Native American Princess Doll. I didn't order it but I got a Barbie Native American Doll and she is a Native American Princess Doll.

Native American tribes had Indian chiefs but no Kings. Gypsies have a Gypsy Princess. Africans have Princesses, Queens and Kings. India has their Princesses. England had Princess Diana. She was a favorite with me. England, China and a lot of countries have their Princesses, Kings and Queens. Can we forget, Xena, Warrior Princess? Yes, I know it was a TV Show but she was like a Celtic Princess. I love Princesses and I call myself a Princess. I was in three beauty pageants and my mother spoiled me and my husband does, too. I wasn't born into royalty but I am a Princess to my mother and husband. The question: Are there or were there Native American Princesses? Pocohontas was made an honorary Princess Elizabeth. So, we have Princess Pocohontas. She was a Native American Princess

In the late 1800's and early 1900's, when Native American children learned the white man's languages and customs, they probably read fairy tales and little Native American girls felt like Princesses and since Pocohontas was a "Princess", they probably thought why can't I be one, too? Nationalities over the years have had Princesses, so I am sure Native Americans had their Princesses, too. I hope that this answers the question. Remember, a man and woman are the King and Queen of their castles and their children Princes and Princesses. A Native American Indian Chief is considered the head of his tribe. I am sure he had daughters so they could very well be Princesses. This is my story and I am sticking to it. Thanks for reading.
