A ghostly image came to light and caught me in its spell

My Tale of Terror…

My haunting tale of fear began at twelve - ‘All Hallows Eve’.
A fated night that changed my life - too horrid to conceive.
It came for me in search of souls that scorn and disbelieve…

I stood upon its sacred space just past the graveyard gate.
I didn’t care nor think the thoughts that might have saved my fate -
For whiskey dulls the human mind - it fuels what doth await…

I heard strange sounds below my feet – the ground began to swell.
A ghostly image came to light and caught me in its spell.
My blood ran cold - a magic door had opened into hell!

I tried to run and get away beyond that evil site,
My feet were stuck – they felt like stone – my toes were fixed with fright.
A wolf appeared – an aberration lurking in the night…

It leapt at me with wraithlike skill and grabbed me by my coat.
It bit into my mortal skin around my naked throat.
Its fangs embedded deep within – as if I were a goat!

But then a wonder came to pass upon my earthly soul -
It disappeared into the night - back down its hellish hole.
My wounds then vanished (though I felt I was no longer whole)…

I’m feeling rather spry these nights while underneath the moon –
I bay and howl and hunt for souls – perhaps, I’ll see yours soon... Smirk
