Anarchy!
I wrote this, about being an American, when I heard the song "April 29, 1992" by Sublime |
| Ahh, Democracy falls anarchy calls! Fascism was small, now, America crawls with it! We take to the streets and its the authorities we meet! We raise up our guns and baseball bats, they raise their clubs and shields and take off their hats. They scream, "STOP!" We scream back, "ANARCHY!" One of us climbs to the top of a pole and says "We don't AGREE!" Anarchy, anarchy, Anarchy in the U.S.A.! Rebellion, rebellion, rebellion in the streets! Ahh, we and them collide because we didn't run and hide! They toss bombs of tears and gas, we stand fast and let them pass! They fall back, the sky is black. We turn to the stores and shops, we flip cars, we can't be stopped, one brick takes down a window, and we run free, like through a meadow! Anarchy, anarchy, Anarchy in the U.S.A.! Rebellion, rebellion, rebellion in the streets! Ahh, I think I smell some kind of cocktail. BOOM! BOOM! Molotov Cocktail, babies wail, the law fails, society falls, we plunder the malls! Ahh, I can't get no satisfaction! I think I'll do some more destruction! The goody-goods are swimmin' 'cause the times they are a-changin'! Anarchy, anarchy, Anarchy in the U.S.A.! Rebellion, rebellion, rebellion in the streets! Ahh, when he took power, we picketed through the hour. We wanted democracy but they wanted autocracy! When that failed, we didn't wail, we just rebelled! Ahhhhhhhh! You told is that you wanna help us, and then you said, "Back of the bus!" Anarchy, anarchy, Anarchy in the U.S.A.! Rebellion, rebellion, rebellion in the streets! {instrumental bridge} Anarchy, anarchy, Anarchy in the U.S.A.! Rebellion, rebellion, rebellion in the streets! Anarchy, anarchy, Anarchy in the U.S.A.! Rebellion, rebellion, rebellion in the streets! You took the oath, then you destroyed both Constitution and the Declaration, and you said we needed a new direction, then you took away our rights, but we didn't soar to new heights, we fell into the pits and began to forget that its not them or it that we belong to. |
