Hello! I am writing this for Cissy's Group. I am part Cherokee. My father's grandmother was full blooded Cherokee and her name was Lightfoot. She lived in Kentucky and she smoked a pipe. I never got to meet her. I could never understand why Grandma looked dark when I was a kid. Dad told me that Grandma's mother was a full blooded Cherokee. This is all I know about my Cherokee roots. When Dad hasn't had a hair cut in a few weeks and has a tan in the summer, he looks like an old Native American guy. I tease him about it. He tells me that the older I get, my Native American blood will show up in my looks. I hope so. I do have dark brown eyes. I have always loved the Native American people since I was a little girl. When ever I watch old western shows or movies, I always cheer for the Native Americans to get the white men. Like Custer's last stand, well he isn't one of my favorite people. He was trouble. I love watching "Billy Jack" movies. He was part Native American and had to fight a crooked sheriff and people who were mean to the Native Americans. Billy Jack was a hero. If he would have met Custer, well there wouldn't have been Custer's last stand.
I love wolves and I feel I have a connection to them being part Cherokee. The wolves have always been admired by Native Americans and they are part of the Native American Spirit World. They, too struggled for survival all through history. I once had my husband drive all over the country looking for the "Chief Memoinee" statue. He was a Native American Chief who along with his people, were forced to endure the Trail Of Tears as he and his Memoinee tribe were forced out of Indiana in the long walk. The statue is quite the attraction. I am glad that I got to see it. People visit it all the time by Holm Lake in Indiana. We have no Native American people in our area. That is sad. I am the only one I know, outside of Dad's family who has Native American blood in them. I knew a Native American woman when I was seven years old and she collected dolls and gave me a pretty doll with blonde hair. Dad had a friend named Steve that was Native American and he looked liked Mingo on Daniel Boone. I was convinced that he was Mingo and I called him Mingo. Dad was embarrassed but Steve liked me and he liked when I called him Mingo. Why did I join Cissy's NAI Group? I wanted to meet other members who are Native American or who are Native American at heart. I am happy to see there are a lot of members and the connection we have to the Native American Heritage. The spirits are smiling. I already know Hannah and Michelle and I love them and they are nice.Gabriella and I are friends and I love her, too. I have got to know Ruby who is very nice and I love her. I love Cissy like a Cherokee Sister. Sonnet Wolf is very sweet and I love her art work and her. Feather Duster is a member and she is a beautiful person and close friend and I love her dearly. She has recently been promoted to Moderator. I would like to get know others in the group. E-mail me just to say "Hi." I feel honored being part of the group. I do hope everyone has fun and we get to know each other. Peace to my Native American brothers and sisters. Love: Megan 622 Words ** #1467291 Not An Image ** ![]() ![]() ![]()
