IN DEFENCE OF FOOLS
Those who condemn a fool must On this pontificate: Is his folly acquired or Just a part of his fate? If fate worked against him and Deprived him of wisdom, To blame him for his loss would Be an unwise symptom. Yet, for sake of argument, If folly is acquired, This can’t be voluntary. For this, no proof’s required. It can hence be surmised, fools Aren’t of their own making. Their folly, they can’t help it. They’re not simply faking. In the end let’s remember The wise are not the best. Even simpletons may be Much better than the rest. • Written in abcb, 7-6-7-6 syllabic format. M C Gupta 25 October 2008
