My Beach The ocean breeze draws near to me A scent of salt and spray of sea. The colors of the sunset glow As if the sky is burning slow. The crashing waves, they purr and roar; Above me seagulls glide and soar. The tide it pulls away the sand – Before me now, an image grand. I’ll live each day, this place in mind – For even through the daily grind This gift from God is my reprieve And one day I will never leave... For some day when my time has come, I’ll fin’lly know where I am from – His hand I’ll find within my reach And He will lead me to this beach. This poem is written for, and dedicated to, my mother. I love you, Mom.
