-Introduction-
You’re standing in an elevator as it descends into the depths of the facility that you have called home for the past year or so. You stand there silently as you feel the smooth motion of the elevator. Suddenly, it stops. The door opens and you step out into the brightly lit corridor. As you take a step off the elevator your heart rate starts to increase. You continue your walk down the corridor. As you finally reach the solitary door, one of the two guards posted there silently holds out his hand. Without hesitation you hand the guard your identification card.

The guard takes a quick but thorough look at the card, nods his head in satisfaction, and then hands you back your identification card. You place it back in your pocket. The other guard turns around and enters a complicated code into a wall terminal. You don’t bother to look because you’re sure the codes change every hour if not more often. There is a beep that signifies the code is correct and the guard turns back to his original position. You take a deep breath and step forward.

There is a slight hiss as the door starts to open. Your heart is racing now. After all this time, you are finally going to see what was in the room. The door opens to reveal another corridor.

"Typical." You say in your mind. They make you go through all that, why not add another corridor? Something seems off. You squint to see down the end of the corridor. It seems to be an exact match of the one you are in. The same faded-white walls, bright lights, door and...the same guards? You quickly turn your head to the left to ask the guard just what the hell was going on. What you see horrifies you.

The guard is horribly disfigured, like he was run through a tree shredder. You can tell he is trying to scream in pain, but he cant. You turn to the other guard just in time to see him pop like a balloon. Blood, guts, flesh, and bones fly in every direction. You need to get back to the elevator, you tell yourself. You start to run as if the Devil himself were chasing you. You are a few steps away from the elevator door, when you hear a blood curdling scream of pain, agony and fear, from the second guard, who seems to finally have found his voice. You don’t stop though. You enter the elevator and push the close door button as well as the button for the top floor. You can see the still living guard rushing to the elevator, arm extended as if asking for help, but you don’t care.

The door finally shuts just as the guard reaches it. You take a step back as you hear him hitting the door. The hitting stops after you hear another scream. You’ve escaped. You take a breath and let it out in a sigh. Then you feel a hand on your shoulder. As the elevator starts its ascension. You slowly force yourself to turn around...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You awake with a scream and covered in sweat. You take a quick look around to find yourself back in your room, in the sleeping quarters of the facility you’ve called home for the past year or so. “Just a dream.” You say to yourself. “Just a dream.”
