The star of hearts, I salute you.

Save minor’ties, I salute you.

• Written in tetrameter. It was originally written in Hindi in March 2008. English translation rendered on 5 November 2008, when Obama’s win was announced.

* • The refrain “I salute you” might look a bit too repetitive. This has been retained as in the original. The words “namo-namo” in the original, in fact, are in the tradition of a hymn to god and literally mean, “I bow to You; I bow to You”.
