Dear Father God,

Forgive our nation for decline;
turn our hard hearts and make them thine.
We have forsaken Your declarations
and have allowed evil in our nation.
Open blinded eyes that no longer see
Make them aware of Your reality.
In Your mercy, forgive our waywardness
and bring us back to Your righteousness.
In Jesus name, Amen

“If My people which are called by My name,”
Your people have hid in shame.
“Shall humble themselves, seek My face, and pray,”
Your people have pride today.
“If My people will turn from wicked ways,”
Your people have gone astray.
“I will hear, forgive their sin, heal their land,”
Your people don’t heed Your plan.

(II Chronicles 7:14, paraphrased)

“But if ye turn away…
and forsake my statues and my commandments
Which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods
And worship them, then will I pluck them up by the roots
Out of my land which I have given them, and this house which I
Have sanctified for my name will I cast out of my sight and will make it a
Proverb and a byword among all nations.  And this house which is high, shall be an Astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say,
‘Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and unto this house?’

And it shall be answered, ‘Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers’…”

II Chronicles 7:19-22
