From Beginning To End, God Was There

Throughout the night, my heart it pounded.
Something had happened and I was astounded.
I was waiting to see what would happen to me.

My heart was overburdened with joy,
and I thought I never wanted to leave this boy
that God brought into my life. It was perfect timing.

We talked all night and there was no shame.
We shared our stories without blame,
and gave all the credit to God for bringing us together.

We shared joy and endured such pain.
Oh, there was so much that we could gain
just holding each other through those tryin' times.

Children were born and grew up well
Oh, the stories that we could tell
about the love that lives on in our home.

Fifty years later on the front porch swing,
sittin' in the shade of an angel's wing,
both our hearts beat for the final time.

Don't worry 'bout us we both were saved.
Our love for Him never did fade.
We faced Him on His Golden Throne.

And now we're wearin' wings of our own.
