SNOWFALL LOVE

What this snowfall means to me,
None can possibly know.
It reminds me of the one
Full thirty years ago.

As snow whitened the dark night,
I, driving in the street.
Spotted you valiantly
Trying to walk in sleet.

Clad rather too scantily,
You were shivering so;
When I pulled up by the curb,
Scared, you wanted to go.

When I offered you a lift,
You stopped, but then entered;
It was in that cold night you
Told me how you suffered.

I pride on my heart of steel,
Yet it melted that night;
Tears welled up in my eyes when
I realized your plight.

That was thirty years ago,
This was the time and place;
When we met never to part,
By the Almighty’s grace.

But now when you are no more,
Your memories abound.
In this snowfall, yet again,
I have that moment found.
