PRAY FOR THE PRESIDENT-ELECT

I am horrified by the news that there are people out there who threaten the safety and the life of our new president-elect. I pray for his safety.

For people like me, who profess Christianity, there is a command in the Bible to pray for those in authority. If you don’t believe me look it up. First Timothy 2:2 tells us, to pray for kings and those in authority that we may lead peaceful lives. It does not specify leaders with whom you agree, or even leaders you think are good ones. It admonishes us to pray for anyone in authority.

This man who has just been elected has the worst job on this planet. He will be tested in many ways and the job will take a severe toll on him. Be glad somebody even wants this job! More than any president who went before he will be tested and judged because he is the first of his race to occupy this place.

We must be in prayer for his safety first of all and then that God will give him wisdom. Pray for his family because the next four years will be a difficult time for them, too.

We sing God Bless America. We want our land to prosper and be at peace. The Bible says ’If My people who are called by My Name shall humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”

This is written in II Chronicles 7:14. There is another place in the Bible that says, to him that knows to do good and does it not, to him it is sin.

We have our work cut out for us. If you think a cop or a congressman or a governor does not want to be prayed for or does not believe in it, pray for him anyway. The Bible also says, The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availed much.

Pray for President Obama! Pray for America!
