Sunlight streaming through window pane, warm morning light finds me awake. In dreamland I have spent the night, enraptured by a mystic sight The joy I felt has made me shake in laughter I can not contain. Oh, take me back where I can see the magic and the fantasy! As dusk surrounds my sleepy head, anticipation fills my mind, a longing to arrive once more upon that distant dreamy shore. My shining knight I know I'll find awaiting me upon my bed. Crump Author's Note: The envelope sonnet is probably a variation of the Italian or Sicilian sonnet by the French, The originals used an octave composed of two quatrains rhyming abba abba or abba cddc. It was probably the French fondness for linking stanzas, that conceived the idea of creating two sestets and linking them with a rhyming couplet. This gives a rhyme sequence of abccba dd efggfe. Each line is octosyllabic (8 syllables) or decasyllabic (10). 2nd place in Round 58 for July 2010
