Finding the good within a mistake....Absent Love

Cold pressed in on the balcony,
Chilling the old man as he smoked.
                                       Expanding black attacked the sky.
No moon or stars- no light this night.

                                       The night echoing reflections,
A mocking laugh at his distress.
                                       Foolishness had left him broken
And the mistakes had changed his life.

A mild wind picked up from the east,
Cracks formed in the dreary ceiling.
                                       Cloud cover began to decrease
As the heavens filled with its stars.

The easterly wind now howled in
Taking all the black clouds away.
                                       Sparkling diamonds filled the sky;
A large perfect pearl glowed nearby.

                                       The night echoing reflections
Shining within him was the pearl.
Warmth pressed in on the balcony,
And the old man put out his smoke.
