TIME TO GIVE THANKS

There are those people in the world who step
into your life and leave a footprint on your soul.

The family gathered around the table to share hopes and dreams,
catching up on our lives was part of Thanksgiving day, it seems.
As father carved the turkey and mother filled our plates with pride,
we talked about the 'good old days' and set all our cares aside.

Our Grandma took a trip to Heaven and decided there to stay
but I know that she is with us still on this Thanksgiving Day.
Grandpa must be smiling as he looks down on our festive table,
he always led the family in giving thanks, long as he was able.

It's time to give thanks once again for those who come and go,
for the folks who stepped into our lives that we were glad to know.
We won't forget the way they were or how they touched our soul,
leaving us a better world and helped each of us to reach our goal.

The holidays bring us memories of those days far in the past,
it's good to know that those memories will forever always last.
So I shall be thankful for the present and the future yet to come
as new traditions come with change, but old ones are still done.

There are those people in the world who step
into your life and leave a footprint on your soul.
