Dolls and Christmas

I love to see dolls around Christmas trees and in Christmas displays in magazines and cards. Have you ever wondered what dolls have to do with Christmas? As a doll collector, I hope to answer this.

I have angel dolls around my tree at Christmas. I like to think that these angel dolls mean Christmas will be a good one and they protect the tree as well as the house. They give hope for the New Year. An angel decoration at the top of the tree makes the tree look nice. Don't forget the angel told the wise man that Jesus had been born.

If a family has little girls, the dolls are by the tree because the little girls want to display their favorite doll and help decorate for Christmas. Maybe the little girls feel the dolls add magic to the Christmas season. A little girl can sit by the tree holding her favorite doll and make a Christmas wish. Maybe she thinks if Santa sees her doll or dolls, he will know that she has been a good little girl and helped decorate for Christmas and Santa will leave her something special.

Maybe a child has died in the family and the doll belonged to the child and is displayed by the Christmas tree in her memory. Maybe the doll was a present from a grandmother, grandfather, aunt or uncle who has passed on and is displayed in her or his memory. The doll could have been a special gift and can be displayed as an extra decoration to make Christmas more special.

Dolls are designed by Doll Designers and they design them after people they know and love. It would be neat to see a family of dolls by a Christmas tree designed by a doll designer to represent her family or friends. I wouldn't mind having a doll designed after me.

Dolls can hold special memories and mean something special to the person who owns them or collect them. Dolls add magic to Christmas and look pretty around a Christmas tree. Like people, everyone has a story and you can bet dolls have a story or two as well to tell. Admire a Christmas display and when you see a doll or two displayed, think of what I wrote here. There is a reason for the dolls. Dolls have a place by the Christmas tree.
