Heart
a poem about the confusing unreal reality of breaking up

Heart

Take me on
With you
I say
That I might plan another day
To take the truth from lies you say
And mask a future real

The pictures of the words
You say
Are only true for now
Today
But I see things you cannot say
I might not know but feel

But you go on
I’ll stay behind
Really go
For I don’t mind
I might be dumb and later blind
But I know real from other

A fragile heart you cannot seal

These clouds are soft
Like in a dream
They must be more
More than they seem
A single part not of a team
I think you understand

They pick apart the water, ice
They seem sincere
But are not nice
Their purpose no more true
Than rice
Thrown at a funeral pyre

And heart now made of steel
