I SERVED THE ARMY
When I was a resident, Busy treating patients, In nineteen sixty five, Pak Developed foul intents. War ensued, I thought I must Do for the country more; I joined the Army as a Captain, Medical Corps. While I served the Army I Experienced many Situations, good and bad, Sticky, gloomy, clammy. I learned to say “Yes, Sir”, when My mind surely said, “No”. Forgetting rest, I had to Go when the boss said, “Go”. Unlike civil life, there are No rules against the boss. That makes sense, in fact, because The boss averts the loss. Wars are fought by soldiers but Won by the strategies Developed by the big brass, Sitting in the office. I was young and did rebel Against discipline hard. But, truly, learning it has Been my greatest reward. • Written in abcb, 7-6-7-6 format M C Gupta 5 December 2008
