The Poet Warrior

During the day, Dan Sturn lives in a different reality, going by a different name. Let's call him "Dan."

Dan Sturn is a Poet Warrior, but "Dan" is a business man.

"Dan" graduated with a BA in Architecture in 1982, then started a video business, which held national recognition before being sold in 1995. He has since successfully created and sold several businesses in industries including music, marketing, and technology.

One such business worked with a team of psychologists and musicians to create a series of nondenominational spiritual workshops called The Drumming and Dreamtime Retreat. Attendees from different physical and spiritual disciplines camped for several days, learning techniques for meditation, drum circle work, and camping. Journaling was taught as a means of meditation.

Several retreats were held. It was during this experience that the alter-ego, Dan Sturn, was born.

In 2000, the "other Dan" founded an Information Security consultancy working primarily with community based banks. Considered an expert in the field, "Dan" regularly speaks at conventions and association conferences. His lectures preach awareness as the key to success in Information Security, starting with the true reality is that there is no such thing as “security.”

In this realm, "Dan" has published several nonfiction articles in VSDA Reports, AllBusiness.com, BankNotes, and other trade magazines under the "real" name.

The connection between the two planes of existence is the fact that both "Dan's" professional writings and Dan Sturn's poetry deal with how the emotions of FEAR and UNCERTAINTY can be addressed through the use of AWARENESS. Meanwhile, the nexus of Information Security and Poetry is Dan Sturn's philosophy of "Multivalence" . The manifesto of this philosophy is expressed in his book of poetry, "Bottle in the River" .

Dan Sturn’s poetry is published in the collections, Down Peaceful Paths and Listen With Your Heart. He also has a published short story in the collection, Runner’s High. A publisher is currently reviewing "Bottle in the River"  (and has been doing so for three months now.)
