                                          Ghazal 189


Persian:  Dara e jahaan, nusrat e deen, khusrav e kaamil
              Yahya e Muzaffar malik e aalim o aadil
Urdu:      Dara e jahaan, nusrat e deen, khusrav e kaamil
              Hay Ibn e Muzzaffar malik e aalim o aadil

English:=== He is a ruler you can completely trust
                  Yahya, the king, is so learned and just
                                                -

Persian:  Aey aan keh dar Islaam panah e to kashooda
              Bar roo e jahaan roozana e jaan o tan o dil
Urdu:      Islaam ka aey shah teray dam say khula hay
              Bar roo e jahaan rouzana e jaan o tan o dil

English:=== In matters of faith, in his righteous reign
                  His subjects have all made enormous gain
                                                -

Persian:  Taazeem e to bar jaan o khirad wajib o laazim
              Inaam e to bar koun o makaan faaiz o shaamil
Urdu:      Taazeem teri jaan o khirad per hoie laazim
              Inaam tera koun o makaan maen hua shaamil

English:=== When it comes to giving, he's generous and kind
                  His grandeur can be seen by even the blind
                                              -

Persian:  Rooz e azal az kalk e to yak qatra siyaahi
              Bar roo e meh uftaad keh shud hull e masaail
Urdu:      Khamay say azal maen teray ik qatra siyaahi
              Gir kay rukh e meh per hay bana hull e masaail

English:=== He has the keenest mind and the mightiest pen
                  And nothing in the world is beyond his ken
                                              -

Persian:  Khursheed chun aan khaal e siyah deed, ba dil guft
              Aey kaash keh mun boodamay aan banda e maaqbil
Urdu:      Daekhay rukh e roushan pay siyah khaal jo taera
              Khursheed bhee kehta hay keh maen banda o saayil

English:=== Everyone in his realm about him raves
                  The sun and the moon are also his slaves
                                              -

Persian:  Shaha, falak az bazm e to dar raqs o samaast
              Dast e tarab az daaman e ein silsila maagsil
Urdu:      Jab daekh kay mehfil ko falak hota hay raqsaan
              Aey dast e tarab chorh na damaan e fazaail

English:=== In the court when they see his lively stance
                  The stars in heaven all begin to dance
                                              -

Persian:  Mai noosh o jahaan bukhsh keh az peech e kamandat
              Shud gardan e badkhah gariftaar e salaasil
Urdu        Pee baada e jaanbakhsh, kameengaah maen apni
              Ker gardan e badkhah gariftaar e salaasil

English:  O king, be happy and drink your wine
              And you'll have luck and you'll be fine
                                            -

Persian:  Chun dour e falaf yaksara bar munhij e adl ast
              Khush baash keh zaalim naburad rah ba maanzil
Urdu:      Lazzat na rahi zulm maen baidaadgaroun ko
              Khush baash keh hay dour e falak adl pay maail 

English:=== And Heaven, when it finds you fair and just
                  Your foes and rivals it'll surely bust
                                            -

Persian:  HAFIZ qalam e shah e jahaan muqsim e rizq ast
              Az behr e maieshat makun andeeshe e baatil
Urdu:      HAFIZ jo karay rizq ki taqseem shahanshah
              Too behr e maieshat na ker andaesha e baatil

English:=== And since HAFIZ knows you are so very kind
                  He worries not where his bread he'll find
