On this wintry December day, a splendid gift of sun arrives shining to coax the cold away. Not to conquer the chill outside was this brilliant present given, but to thaw out the heart inside. The melting ice begins to flow. Warmth and joy fill my needy soul; for in this gift, your love I know. *** As morning turns to afternoon, I pause to calm my restive mind. The sunlight streams into the room. I see the gift of sunny beams and it reminds me once again that you are the love of my dreams. *** The sun has laid its head to rest beyond the trees where I can’t see and evening shadows come at last. As darkness covers what is mine, a canopy of stars appear; and the full moon begins to shine. *** Whether it be the night or day, I find that you are always here. Your presence will not fade away. At Christmas time, we remember a gift you gave to all the world; the Christ child in the manger. Copyright © December 11, 2008 by Karen M. Crump
