Xandria, the faerie princess, intently watched the cocoon Patiently she waited, knowing what would emerge soon As the new butterfly first spread her wings, Xandria pouted, "Why cannot I have such beautiful things?" Said the butterfly, "I was not always so beautiful like you, I was once an ugly pupae, not knowing if this body would do." Xandria fluttered off and perched in a flower, Then then wept when its once sweet nectar now tasted sour But still, it wasn't enough to get her intoxicated, "Why must my princess of a life be so complicated? Shall I banish this beautiful butterfly, and retain my throne? Perhaps I'll just capture her and bring her to my home." Xandria wiped her tears and thought of a gift, Could an offering of nectar possibly lift? The princess heard the baby cry, and agreed to herself, It's my duty, I know, to put my jealousy upon the shelf "Here, my lovely companion, of beauty so rare and true, I never imagined to be exceeded by you. You're such a lovely butterfly, so delicate and sweet, Surely the most beautiful little butterfly I ever did meet If only you were a girl, I'd love to make you mine. But no, I guess I'll get along without you just fine." The baby butterfly cradled Xandria with gossamer wings all around, Whispering softly, a gentle and comforting sound I find you attractive in many splendid ways, it's true I've been dreaming, I confess, of a girl just like you!
