FITNESS TRAINING FOR YOUR WRITING
STRENGTHENING THE VERBS IN YOUR WRITING

For many of you, grammar may or may not have been a part of your English courses in junior high or middle school and in high school. Although you dreamed of becoming a writer, you could not understand what grammar had to do with getting your “best selling novel” published.

Hopefully, you signed up for this course because you now see a need to understand verbs and the function they play in good writing.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY, YOU WILL NEED IT TO PROGRESS IN THE CLASS.

When I was a kid, Saturday morning cartoons contained a kind of “public service announcement” – School House Rock. Click on the link below to stroll down memory lane with “Verb: That's What's a'Happenin'!” from School House Rock.

COURSE CONTENT

This course contains eight lessons.
For each lesson, you need to
*Note1*1) read carefully the information presented in the lesson
*Note2*2) construct a well thought out response to the discussion topic
*Note3*3) complete a written assignment relating to the week’s lesson.

*Note4*Each lesson will become available on Wednesday evenings by 12:00 pm WDC time.

Although the course is designed so that you may work at your own pace, you need to complete the material in the eight lessons within ten weeks. I understand, however, that things do occur that might make it difficult to complete an assignment within the week, but I urge you to make every effort to complete the assignment in the allotted time. It is very easy to fall behind, and then, it becomes difficult to complete the course in the given time.

In this class, communication between students is encouraged and expected. Every student’s input is vital to the class.

GRADING

FOR EACH LESSON

ASSIGNMENT
= 75%

DISCUSSION TOPIC = 25% (Answering the Discussion Topic = 15% & actively responding to your classmate’s posts and/or becoming involved with ongoing, lesson related discussion = 10%)

This means if you complete an assignment and get everything correct, but you do not participate in the discussions, you earn a maximum of 75% = C.
ALSO

This means that if you complete the assignment without errors, answer the Discussion Topic, but you do not become actively involved with the discussion (at least one post to a classmate that makes a point - "Good Job" or "Well Done!" do not count) you would only earn a maximum of 90% = A-.

GRADING SCALE
95 - 100 = A
90 - 94 = A-
85 - 89 = B
80 - 84 = B-
75 - 79 = C
70 - 74 = C-
65 - 69 = D
60 - 64 = D-

All grades are kept confidential. I will email you the grade for each lesson.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR LESSONS & DISCUSSION TOPICS

If you have room in your port, create a folder for your assignments; this way you have them for future reference.

Create each lesson as static item AND then post the Bitem in the forum when it is ready to be graded.
