The episodes of complete dissatisfaction
And frustration leading to intense agony –
All of the bumps and bruises –
Have inevitably taught us
That we are condemned to failure and delays
In living our dreams and desires.
Our souls are filled with
Dread and disgust over
The coming of our ruination –
We become the sacrificial lamb
Who is cruelly and dutifully extinguished
To appease a much feared and
Infinitely higher power.

If our fortunes and trust lay in the hands
Of a merciful, all-loving God,
Then why do we insist on His plan
Of greater, wholesome good?
Do we not deserve more from our fealty and piety
Then an unwanted slap in the face
From our Creator, who begot a Son
So that we may live in peace and harmony
For all eternity?
The sacrifice of a lamb,
In this case, is the willful and necessary end
To our woeful pride and sickening vanity,
In a world that knows no limits to either
Of these conditions…
