Dreaming of a New Year

The clouds blue and translucent
Make the green earth effulgent
The parakeet and the cuckoo
Make my day new and joyful too
Nature is ever busy
In fruitful activity.

I too dream of a life devoid of indolence
Idle passions and instant indulgence
A life of character and cleanliness
Of high thinking and sensitiveness
The ability to be calm and agreeable
With self respect indestructible.

My dreaming of a New Year will remain
Incomplete if I do not strive to attain
The worth I need to gain love and affection
And give in turn without qualms and deception
Not only to the near, dear and the close knit
Also to those on shores afar, yet within our orbit.
