My Mountain
Solid, majestic, just hazy purple outline in white fog shrouded. Winter Morning ‘Wake up sleepy-head’, my parent hovers bedside - warm covers torn off. Snow Quiet falling scene lacy pearls from heaven sent, create human slog. Brothers 'Snag', parent grumble I remain silent, humble, the natives rumble. Spring Rain In hard drenching rain I dance free without a care, with my rubbers on. Summer Wash Billowing white folds, careless cloth tossed in the wind, nature’s own machine. Chores Saturday cartoons end, the list now commences - I’m Cinderella. Victory Garden Save the eggplant! Pick and watch beetles swim, sink, drown - sudsy soap water. Fall Leaves down, harvest home, savory stew on stovetop, warm loud fire crackles. **************** At age 10, I took a Poetry class and fell in love with the Haiku form (3 lines, 5-7-5 syllable pattern). This is a sampling from the following years where just about every poem I wrote was Haiku. Note: this poem is part of a collection, to read more please see: "poems from the past"
