Dear Me,
My goals this year will be different than last year. Last year I never took the time to make any resolutions, so I wouldn't have to follow through on anything and hold myself accountable. Last year was a total waste, so I won't be repeating it. I know I have a lot of new ideas and resolutions running through my mind that I am going to try my best to accomplish. If I can't finish them all, then so be it, but at least I can say I tried. That's certainly a big improvement over doing nothing last year.

The first thing I would like to see is for me to pay my bills without paying a penalty. I always wait until the last final notice then I'm scurrying around. Of course it costs me more in the end and that adds up. Take the penalty amount on several bills covering each month for a full year, and it would be quite a saving for me. I could use the extra money for a mini vacation! The utility bill alone charges 20.00 when I'm late on the payment each month, and it's not like I can't pay it ahead of time. Therefore, why do I drag my heels? That needs to stop right away.

The second thing is to quit smoking when I know its hazardous to me and anyone around me. I certainly know better but here I am still puffing away. I see the commercials on television about second hand smoke, so I need to give myself a break and give it up. Besides it's not the in thing anymore. Back when I was a teen it was okay but now its taboo. Consequently, it's of the highest importance for me and those I love to severe that habit quickly!

The third item I need to improve upon in the coming year is to see something good in everything that I run across. It's way to easy to see the negative in people and to feed into it, but with a more positive attitude my outlook will change for the better. I find if I stay negative I get depressed and down and life is too short to let that happen if I can change it, myself.

I want to be more organized around my home and quit being a pack rat. I need to go through all our things and sort out what we don't use very often. Even if I do a bit each day it will help. After all maybe someone would benefit from some of it too. What good is it doing sitting on my shelf getting dusty from not being used? What a waste!

Another thing I need to improve on is helping others to enjoy Writing.Com like, I do. So many newbies join and just need a helping hand that I'm sure I can be of help to them. I just need to reach out and look for them. How hard can that be?

One other thing I would really like to accomplish is to help others be more aware of how negative feedback hurts when it is sarcastic and rude. I would like to start up a group that will help monitor this trend and help in some way to change their attitudes toward doing this to others. Peer pressure can do a lot. I believe we have more positive people on Writing.Com than negative, so I feel in my heart it can be done. I just need to inquire around and find others who might feel the same way.

These are my resolutions and ideas for the coming year. With my positive attitude in place, I am going to accomplish what I can.

With hope in my heart,
Me
