The Death of a Dream
life is an admixture of light and night

The death of a dream

Yesterday’s aspiration
Today’s anticipation,
Smiles that lit my days
Dissolved in tears
Coursing down my face.
Bright horizons
Vanished behind
The thick veil
Of dark disappointments
Of gray disillusionments.

Unforeseen hostilities
Unexpected failures
Objectives unfulfilled
Alone and dejected
Has God ordered
The death of a dream?

Yet, I see night after night
The rising rays of light
The storm ending
On silence, and peace
Returning to our place.

Death of a dream
Is not the end of vision
So my heart and soul
Weather the test and trial
To reach the shore of new hopes
To dream again of new vistas.
