Friend

When I think of you, I think of the word friend

Because you are real, never having to pretend

Never discarding me like I was the next trend

Whenever I get in trouble, you always defend

If I need some help, a hand you will lend

You speak in a way, never having to condescend

Not using words I can't comprehend

You know what it takes for my feelings to mend

You need not say sorry to make an amend

Throughout everything we've had to contend

I know you're there, your strength will never bend

When my heart is low with no more to extend

You take my hand and to the heavens we'll ascend

You give me strength as our spirits blend

Gently and slowly, together both of us descend

I'm so very happy you chose me to befriend

Because I know you'll be with me until the very end
