I'm looking for a buddy who writes fantasy/horror with more leanings toward horror. The authors I read are Stephen King, VC Andrews, HP Lovecraft, Bentley Little, Edgar Allan Poe and poet Leonard Cohen. I've also read the Harry Potter series except for the latest book Tales of the Beetle Bard. I received it for Christmas, so I will start on it soon. I'm also a fan of classic country music. My favorite singers are Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristoferson, and Jessi Colter. I'm also a huge fan of Leonard Cohen, Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra. As for movies, I mostly watch horror, but some fantasy and period pieces (ie: The Other Boylen Girl, Atonment, ect)

Yup. Why not? If you are looking for a "different" perspective from that of being an American, then I am he. Just pushing 49, male, a doctor by profession with a parenting book published, I am still a writer in search of myself. I do dabble in all forms of writing, but ask me to pen genres like horror, scary, sci-fi and children's, and I am lost. My writings revolve around life-fiction, general drama, adventure, action, how-to, romance and biographicals.

My buddy can be either sex, any age, though being a little near my age can be an advantage, for I simply cannot write those zany sms's and emoticons like my two daughters can, and would soon get uptight about semantics.

So, there.

Thanks, Mara, for providing us with a platform to mingle. And, a belated Account birthday to you!

Okay...I've been here a grand total of five days, and am loving what I have seen so far. I have received several reviews already, and all but one of them was helpful (not saying which). That is the main reason I am here, because I read them made me realize how much another person's input can help!

My name is Jared Olsen, I am 18+, though I doubt I'll ever write 18+ (Things occasionally bleed in my stories, but not that much! I write fantasy, though I most often try to explain why things happen, instead of saying, "Magic did it!" I love to read Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Modern Fantasy mostly, though I have appreciated some other genres from time to time.

I love humor and wit, and finding ways to insert it into unusual situations if it fits. I believe in God, and believe that he also has a sense of humor. How else do you explain how we got ours! Even though I'm a Mor(m)on, like most Mor(m)ons, I don't go on about it. It mostly defines what I do myself, and doesn't effect my writing in any way (other than keeping it under 18+ and I'm content with that).

I started out with 3 brother and four sisters, of which I was the youngest, but now (through adoption and other factors) I have six brothers and five sisters (for those bad at math, that adds up to 17). Speaking of math, 1+1=3. Sorry, evidence of a late night with my sisters. That is about as close to 18+ as I get.

Okay, I'm done with the 18+.

I make chain mail (properly called maille, though the spell-checker disagrees), and have made two shirts and two 3/4 shirts so far (for those bad at math, that is a vest). Ahem...sorry about that. If you find my writing style hard to read, than stop now. And if you find it odd, than thank you! I love it when I am referred to as eccentric!

If you find my style fun and easy to read, please stop reading now, because I'm done writing.

I am 17, a junior in high school, looking for someone to have a mutual writing relationship with (reviews, critiques, etc.). I like to write poetry and that's what I normally do, but my ultimate goal is to be a novelist. I just need some (actually a LOT) of help getting where I need to be for that to happen. I would also like to help someone else out by reviewing and just giving my flat out honest opinion. my email is stumbel99@yahoo.com if anyone is interested.

I'm a teenager who likes to write transformation stories. My favorite stories are interactive! I'm a huge fan of the singer T-Pain. I've included him in some of my stories. I also like to write stories based on the television show Boondocks. That's all there is to know about me. I'm not sure what else to share. If you want to be my buddy, you can help me with the interactive stories! What else is there to say? If it really matters, I'm white. To me, color doesn't matter. To others, that's all that matters. In my opinion, each and every color is important.

I'm looking more for someone to critique flow, dialog, pace of the story, inconsistancies in the 'world' I've created, point out areas that may need more explanation or fleshing out - that kind of thing.

I've decided the best person to critique my work is someone who currently enjoys either reading or writing in the genre and is part of my target audience. I am working on an urban fantasy, with a light feel. It contains elements of comedy, adventure and mystery as well as leaning toward the erotic at times. This book would also fall under catagories of paranormal, supernatural, with characters of vampires and werewolves. I will need someone over 18 to help me, preferably a woman over 30.

Greetings to one and all! I am truly honored to be here among my peers, to share our experiences to one another. My passion is in writing stories, in short stories, poems, song and currently writing a novel. What I write about is mostly fantasy, mythology, and ancient military history. I try to blend all together. Well I am over 18 and I am male. I don't mind if my buddy is male or female. I look forward to a new friendship!

Noa נעה View noaeliyahu's Portfolio. [Offline / Private]

Hi =). My name is Noa, and I would really love to be able to share my writing with another person, and in turn have the privilege of reading their writing, too.

I am from Israel, and I have just finished my IDF rotation (in Israel this is required of almost all citizens). I like to write realistic fiction, because I feel that the world is a very interesting place and full of its own stories that just need to be recorded. I am inexperienced with other genres, but I am in no way opposed to them. English is not my first language, but I do speak it (I think) well enough, and I am looking to improve my language skills through writing.

I do not have a gender preference (I am female), but I do think that having a buddy around my own age would be easier on myself. But I am very open and I am certainly not picky.

Hi;

I'm rosepetals. I'm a 50+ (born in 1957) Christian Catholic. My genre is Christian mystery/suspense. I'd like a Christian buddy of either gender, preferably 40+ to give truthful, tactful feedback, accountability, and support. I am single, disabled, and live with my Mom and our parakeet "Chuckie". Writing is my life, second only to Jesus. I enjoy reading and watching TV in my chosen genre, and true crime, writing books, Christian living books, and sports and classic movies on TV.

My time with my mentor is nearing an end so I wish to hunt for a buddy.

My name is Celena and I am 26 (as of June14). I am a working mother with a 2 yr old (as of July 16) daughter name Alyssia (pronounced Alicia).
I first started writing when I was in elementary. I created a short series call "Pet Shop Pals" when I was 10 that my parents thought was comical (wish I knew where it went). In high school is where the emotional writings came out but they went away when I drifted back into the fantasy plane, my true calling.
I write fantasy and a little bit of science fantasy, ranging from children's to 18+ (light romance). While my own works circle around short stories, I have written a few free verse poems. My main goal is a full length novel that I refuse to give up on.
My biggest inspirations are R.A. Salvatore and the wonderful Dragon Lance duo, Weis and Hickman.
I prefer someone that is mature, though age does not matter. I advise that you run through my port before deciding to become my buddy to make sure we are a good match.

I'm really looking for someone who will help inspire me to write. Left to my own devices I often find excuses to do other things, or get a bit disheartened.

I mainly write in the dark/horror genre. A bit of erotica thrown in, more for fun or on request, than anything else. I also do poetry, but that tends to be a lot more personal and more for expression and release, than any artistic flow.

I'm 34 and living in Ireland.

I'm more than willing to return the favour, and offer advice where I can, as well as inspiration, encouragement and constructive criticisms. I'm also up for exchanging ideas and perhaps taking part in joint efforts, to come up with something between us.

Preferably I'm looking for female buddies, as I tend to communicate better with women, but if a male comes along with the right skills/attitude, I wouldn't turn them away.

Over 18 only, please. And preferably someone closer to, or older, than my own age.

Fingers crossed. :D

Hi, I'm Aimee and I'm new to this site. I'm 22, female, a graduate student.

Looking for someone who can perhaps act as a spark of motivation for me to explore different styles and genres of writing. I mainly just write relationship, romance/love, and family fiction... I have a hard time finishing things when writing isn't an assignment for class, so maybe having a buddy will help. I'm currently working on a story in which I have over a hundred pages of scenes with the characters and a loose plot, but I'm having trouble putting it all together.

I don't really have a preference for age or gender.

Thanks!

Despite the fact that I have been a member of WDC for quite some time, I have been extremely inactive up until recently. I'm hoping to find someone who is active on WDC of any age or gender who enjoys writing fiction (mainly real-life, drama, adventure, or coming of age) and/or poetry. I am currently 15 years old and a sophomore in high school, although I'd like to think that my age isn't reflected in my writing. I hope to publish a coming of age novel by the time I am 21 years old. I look forward to finding a good buddy and hopefully start a new friendship.

I am excited to see the buddy option presented. I have been a member for 3 years, logged
on 4 times, got overwhelmed and logged out. Now, I must crack down and write. I am 51 (how did that happen?), female, bright and love life (though it does not always show). I've only been published in a University publication. I have been told that I *should* write for publication. I've finally got the guts to try writing and getting serious about it. I have only written motivational, emotional, gushy, tearjerker kinda stuff so far, but want to expand. The only MUST I have in buddy is a sense of humor.

I'm 32, married, male, and very new to the site. I'm currently finishing my first novel, and at the same time, I write some flash fiction to improve my writing skills. I like to find flash fiction contests as this would be great for a resume, if I win. I'm always willing to critique another's work. I will always find something positive to say regardless of genre, but I'll also let you know what might not be working for me. Please note that it will still only be my opinion. I won't be mean but I won't hedge either. If I sound like someone you'd like to work with just let me know. :)
