Life Began
A tribute to the most inspring moment of my life.

My throat is dry; voice empty.
The hours blurred and blended.
Chapter closed; new book opened.
The truth I’ve yet to see.

My eyes open at the weight
that fills my outstretched arms.
Exhaustion dissipates,
replaced with love unknown.

Tiny face with eyes so new,
stealing my breath, heart, and mind.
Gift I’ve sought since dreams began.
Skin to skin, my life complete.

Hand wraps ‘round my finger.
Outside world wanes at your touch.
Child, I stare in silent awe.
No words for emotions felt.

Baby of mine, love is real.
The circle begins with me
and is ne’er ending with you.
The truth is in your being.
