Considering the Muse

Considering the Muse
...does he/she approve?

Is a muse a muse when he/she's amused
or is serious nature within he/she enthused?
Back off for a minute and think about it,
does your muse walk or does he/she just flit?

What's in a name, muse considering, that is?
Poet's want a "muse" like the pawn in a game.
It can move anywhere on the turn of a dime,
it can also be captured most any time.

Is the muse our center, what we call our heart?
Is this where the poems live in pieces and parts?
Do we through life experience continue to collect
the moments and the feelings for the muse to erect?

Or, is it a sudden flitter, a mystical conception
that's rises from our soul in spiraling confection?
Does the muse take hold and leave our minds behind
as our fingers on the keyboard, the words do find?

Does the muse resent when we start to unwind
the phrases and words just to make them rhyme?
Is he/she irritated that we run rough shod
over the words – does he/she think he/she's God?
