I wanted to bring a smile to each and every one of you that's why I chose this picture! Isn't this little mouse the cutest fellow? Did you check out the smile and the flower he's bringing to brighten up your thoughts?

But on the other hand I wanted to talk with you on a very serious subject too.

Have you heard the term Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? It is one of the disorders that can occur after witnessing abuse, being an abuse victim, trauma, or torture. There are many more disorders that can occur after witnessing any of the above but today we'll concentrate on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Usually it's some trauma that directly impacts a person's life that causes this disorder.

Many people that have this disorder repeatedly re-experience the traumatic event in the form of flashback episodes, nightmares or frightening thoughts of the traumatic event. Feelings of intense guilt, emotional numbness, sleep disturbances, depression, anxiety, irritability and substance abuse are also common, which makes it difficult to maintain close relationships with others.

It is a normal reaction for people who experience or witness such events to become depressed or anxious for a time afterward. However people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder react to these feelings of intense fear, helplessness or horror  in the form of flashbacks, nightmares and frighening thoughts to the point having these things interfere with their ability to function.

Some may not be aware they have this condition, but should seek care after witnessing abuse, being a part of abuse, or any series of traumatic events.  Especially if they feel overwhelmed and have difficulty socializing or maintaining a job.

Physicians can diagnose this disorder and treat it. They can help you work through the trauma gradually so you will be able to function once again without fear. Early diagnosis of this disorder can help a person recover quicker.

I heartly encourage anyone that has suffered any form of abuse and the flashbacks etc. seem to hang on and on, to please check in with your physcian so that he or she can determine whether you need help. Trying to get through by yourself is putting extra stress on you and help is available! You just have to reach out or it. It's there for you and any member of our group would be glad to walk beside you while you are going through it. Just reach out and ask!

While your here, here is a book that I noticed, our very own Stacy Lynn, has on Amazon.Com. It's all about an inside look at the Creativity and Value of a Bipolar Mind. The name of it is "Bipolar Dreams" and it's in paperback which makes it easy to just carry in your purse for those appointments you might have.
