Not Alone
Letters sent from heavenly and earthly loves. |
| My dearest love, I write to you in time of great distress. I know this note, you might not find. I hope they'll acquiesce. I hope the gate of heaven swings upon its golden hinge and guards allow my letter pass, without the slightest cringe. I need to feel your hand in mine and walk with you tonight. When I'm alone, I am so lost, with you it is delight. I pray my words will reach your hand and then your eye and heart. I need to hear your so-soft voice just once since your depart. I have tied my heartened plea upon a single string. And this balloon, I hope will float and letters, to you, bring. I chose the one that was bright red so you could spot it well against the golden streets and skies and read what it will tell. I'll wait below this apple tree. No matter if a sin, please do reply, my dearest one. Sincerely, Mary Lynne. ~~~ My dearest love, I write to you with haste and with such love. I've writ this letter with my heart and sent it via dove. I found your note just after dawn amongst the golden spires. I took it, ran, and read its length at side of heaven's fires. I long to take you in my arms and hold you through the day. Yet I regret to have to tell what I am now to say. This heaven where I live is gold, that much you did have right. Yet war is on from here to hell I fight it day and night. When I first lived a day up here they asked me if I love this world enough to fight evil, defend the world above. I thought of you, I do confess, not of the world's defense. For you, I'll fight to save this life. It is my one pretense. I send this letter, with my love, despite what they forbid. Please do reply, my dearest one. Sincerely yours, David. ~~~ My dearest love, I write to you with such a heavy hand. With graces, you will find this note and read it where you stand. I longed to have you close to me and listen to your sigh. Instead I learn you are at war, protecting life on high. I do not know just how to feel, you risk your soul up there! I once had thought that heaven was the calmest of a lair. I love you so, with all my heart and am grateful for our speech. Yet somewhere deep inside of me, your heart I cannot reach. Can you not slip down from there and mingle at my side? I only long to feel your touch, remain your honest bride. I love you more than all the world, I thought that you should hear. I would also fight off hell to protect you from a spear. I'll wait below this apple tree. No matter if a sin, please do reply, my dearest one. Sincerely, Mary Lynne. ~~ My dearest love, I write to you with my regrets to tell: I cannot leave this fight against the demon-ridden hell. I wish beyond the words I write within this golden spire that I could turn against the snake his burning, evil fire. If it would let me hold your face, I'd gladly break the sky. Instead my heart, I fear might break if I can't meet your eye. You are my love, my life, and soul, the reason that I dwell. It heals my heart to hear you say that I am yours as well. My darling, I now beg of you, cross off your thoughts of death. I won't forgive myself if you take your own last breath. Upon the day we have success over this battle field, we will unite together and our life, a kiss, is sealed. I send this letter, with my love, despite what they forbid. Please do reply, my dearest one. Sincerely yours, David. ~~~ My dearest love, I write to you below my apple tree. I see how much I mean to you and what you mean to me. Our love transcends the highest ridge of any mountain top. The fiercest storm that rages on, when faced with us, shall stop. You say you wish the devil's fire to turn and fight with you. Yet fire to fire will burn so bright that you are blinded too. Might I suggest, my fearless love, a way for your success? I long to dance beneath the stars with you, in suit and dress. Your fight, in thought to keep me safe, is fought between the skies. The fire and wind is equal match when there is no surprise. So take this war and end it soon, go fight in their domain! Show them love shall outweigh hate and tip the scales with rain! I'll wait below this apple tree. No matter if a sin, please do reply, my dearest one. Sincerely, Mary Lynne. ~~~ My dearest love, I write to you it such a joyous state. What intellect you have sustained: destroy, with love, their hate. I just now spoke with generals and told them of a plan: the plan to win this war at last, save every single man. I did suggest, with your great thought, to douse their every fire with every tear of those they killed or tortured on their pyre. The fight, I said, must have an end, we must restore the peace. This bloodshed and this sacrifice we must soon start to cease. My love, you know just what they said? "These are such brilliant schemes!" I hope to reunite our love in places more than dreams. With luck and love we now shall fight. And then, what we shall see! No letter will I send to you, I'll meet you by your tree. I send this letter, with my love, despite what they forbid. I'll see you soon, my dearest one. Sincerely yours, David. |
