                                          Ghazal 207


Persian:  Deedaar shud mayassar o boos o kinaar hum
              Az bakht shukr daaram o az roozgaar hum
Urdu:      Deedaar bhee naseeb hay, boas o kinaar bhee
              Qismat bhee mehrbaan hay bohat, roazgaar bhee

English:=== She has finally come to rest in my arms
                  Oh, how I love and adore her charms
                                                -

Persian:  Zaahid baroo keh talay agar talay e mun ast
              Jaamam ba dast baashad o zulf e nigaar hum
Urdu:      Zaahid na roak mujh ko keh yaari e bakht say
              Saaghar hay hath maen meray, zulf e nigaar bhee

English:=== I'll drink my wine and play with her hair
                  Of my lovely girl I'll take good care
                                                -

Persian:  Maa aeb e kas ba rindi o maasti namikuneem
              Laal e butaan khush ast o mai e khushgawaar hum
Urdu:      Parhaiz baadakhari o masti say kuin ho jab
              Miltay haen lab butoun kay, mai e khushgawaar bhee

English:=== In drinking and dancing there's nothing wrong
                  We'll go to the bar and sing our song

Persian:  Aey dil bashaaratay dahamat mohtasib namaand
              Waz mai jahaan pur ast o but e maigusaar hum
Urdu:      Aey dil khabar suni hay je tehreem e mai gaie
              Hay maikaday maen mai bhee, but e maigusaar bhee

English:=== And need we do not anyone's permission
                  For the wine is ample; there's no prohibition

Persian:  Aan shud keh chashm e badnigaraan bood az kameen
              Khasm az mian baraft o sarashk az kinaar hum 
Urdu:      Hay khoaf dushmanooun ka na andaisha e adoo
              Aabaad shaahidoun say hay dil bhee, kinaar bhee

English:=== So drinking, and dancing, and singing are on
                  And there're no cops, and the censor is gone

Persian:  Khaatir ba dast e tafriqa daadan na zeerakiest
              Mujmooaay bakhah o suraahi biyaar hum
Urdu:      Aey dil na ho malool, chal aisie jageh jahaan
              Ho saaghar o sharaab bhee, mutrib bhee, yaar bhee

English:=== So sit and relax and don't be in a hurry
                  Have something to drink and do not worry

Persian:  Bar khaakian e ishq fishaan jurra e labash
              Ta khaak laalgoun shawad o mushkbaar hum     
Urdu:      Day khaaksaar e ishq ko ik jurr e lab kabhee
              Ta khaak laalgoun ho meri, mushkbaar bhee

English:=== And to honor the topers who're not around
                  Take a little bit of wine and throw it on the ground

Persian:  Chun aabroo e laala o gul faiz e husn e tust
              Aey abr e lutf bar mun e khaaki babaar hum
Urdu:      Hay aabroo e laala o gul faiz say teray
              Taalib hay abr e lutf ka yeh khaaksaar bhee

English:=== And go to the garden and there repose
                  And see her beauty in the tulip and rose

Persian:  Chun kaainaat jumla ba roo e to zinda und
              Aey aaftaab saya zay mun barmadaar hum
Urdu:      Wo aaftaab daiway hay jo sab ko zindagi
              Rakhshandagi pay us ki hay maera madaar bhee

English:=== The moon and the sun are slaves of hers
                  For she is the queen of the universe

Persian:  Ahl e nazar aseer e to und az khuda batars
              Waz intasaab a Aasif e Jumiqtadaar hum
Urdu:      Ahl e nazar aseer na ker aur dar keh haen
              Aadil Khuda bhee, Aasif e Jumiqtadaar bhee

English:=== And though to her lovers she is very cruel
                  Our Premier is just; he is like a jewel
                                                    -

Persian:  Bar yaad e roo e anwar e to aaftaab e subh
              Jaan meekunad fida o kawaakib nisaar hum
Urdu:      Maen hi na roo e anwar e jaanaan pay houn fida
              Hoatay haen aaftaab o kawaakib nisaar bhee

English:=== The stars are nothing in comparison
                  He shines in glory like the morning sun

Persian:  Goo e zameen raboodaie choogaan e adl e tust
              Ween barkasheeda gunbad e neelihasaar hum
Urdu:      Jeetay haen aek choat say chougaan nay teray
              Goo e zameen o gunbad e neelihisaar bhee

English:=== The whole world knows he is fair and just
                  There's no one in the world that's more august
                                                      -

Persian:  Ta az nateeja e falak o toor e dour e oast
              Tabdeel o mah o saal o khizaan o bahaar hum
Urdu:      Jab tak keh hay tareeq e falak jis kar doer say
              Aatay haen mah o saal, khizaan o bahaar bhee

English:=== So months and years till time does bring
                  And till there's autumn in the world and spring
                                                      -

Persian:  Khaali mabaad kaakh e jalaalat zay sarwaraan
              Waz saaqiaan e sarvqad o gulizaar hum
Urdu:      Kaakh e jalaal maen teray sardaar houn jamay
              Aur saaqiaan e sarvqad o gulizaar bhee

English:  May he command every lord and knight
              And the lovely girls give him every delight
                                                      -

Persian:  Buhaan e mulk o deen keh zay dast e wizaaratash
              Ayyaam e kaan yameen shud o darya yasaar hum
Urdu:      Burhaan e deen keh jis ki wizaarat say khush haen sab
              Amn o amaan say ho gaya pur yeh dayaar bhee

English:=== And may he have tons of gems and pearls
                  And be always surrounded by beautiful girls

Persian:  Azm e sabukinaan e to dar junbish aawurad
              Ein paidaar markaz e aalimadaar hum
Urdu:      Azm e sabukinaan say laraz jaay hay teray
              Yeh paidaar markaz e aalimadaar bhee

                  He has controlled the heaven and earth

Persian:  Diwaar e darmiaana chu barg e gul e dooroost
              Humsaaya e hum und khizaan o bahaar hum
Urdu:      Shaadi o gham haen do rukh e yak barg jis terheh
              Humsaaya haen chaman maen khizaan o bahaar bhee

English:=== And since the opposites are in everything
                  I'm old as winter and he's young as spring
                                                    -

Persian:  HAFIZ keh dar sana e to chundeen goher fishaand
              Peesh e cuff e to shud khijal o sharmsaar hum
Urdu:      HAFIZ jo hay goherfishaan taeray jamaal per
              Hay daekh kay jalaal tera sharmsaar bhee
