He stepped into my life so unexpectedly. Tall, dark, handsome and sensous beyond words, he filled my senses with emotions and desires so deep they shook me to my core. He was filled with mystery and wanted me.

We spent hours talking about everything, sharing all the hurts and sorrow we had experienced. He lost a love to death; I lost a love to alcholism and divorce. We were alone, or so I thought, offering one another consolation, encouragement and hope. We shared our hopes and dreams for the future.

Every meeting was filled with a passion neither of us could control. He was the Master of Pleasure holding all of Night's Secrets as no other ever had for me.

This was my life from the time I first met him. It was an unbelievable dream come true the day we were married. I believed in my heart of hearts he was my soul mate for life. I believed I had my whole life ahead of me. I'd never be alone again. Mason would always be by my side.

I was working in the area as a World Book Encyclopedia representative making calls on leads from one of the local schools. Nothing could have been further from my mind than what I was about to discover.

Stopping at the convience store for a soft drink to appease my thirst, my blood ran cold at the sight of Mason standing at the cooler talking to Nina. I knew deep within my soul they were having an affair.

My heart beat dully within my chest. My insides felt leaden. My heart hurt inconsolably with every breath. I wanted to turn, get in my car and flee as I stepped through the door and greeted Mason and Nina as if my world had not just crumbled.

They both spoke and moved apart. Their eyes told me that my instinct was right no matter how I wanted to be wrong. It was at this moment my world as I had known it changed forever. No matter how much I wanted to go back in time and never experience this moment I could not change what the future held.

More than two years transpired before Mason asked for a divorce with me begging him not to leave me alone, not to destroy my whole world, my entire being. My world was thrown into unfathomable darkness.
