"To Budge, or Not To Budge – Zax the Question"

It happened one day, making tracks
Came quickly a North-Going Zax
And a scoutly South-Going Zax,
paused in a place
where feet bumped on prairie of Prax;
stood face-to-face.

“Look,” barked North-Going Zax, “I say!
You’re blocking the path that I lay
And you stopped short right in my way.
I go north, north...”
says North-Going Zax, “I’ll not stray.
Let me go forth!”

Snapped South-Going Zax “In whose way?
You block my trail and cause delay
I make south-going tracks, Okay?
Please shift and move
And let me go southern to play
south-going groove.”

North-Going Zax with chest puffed pride,
“I will Never step to one side.
And not to one so countrified.
My way always
even if standing here outside
fifty-nine days!”

Then the South-Going Zax yelled back
“And I’ll prove to YOU, you old quack,
South-goers stand firm and don’t slack.
I can duel
for fifty-nine Years and not crack.
I’ll beat you, fool.

I live by a rule - Never budge!
Every tiny inch I’ll begrudge.
And not budge, not even a nudge,
not in the least!
I’ll stand still waiting and not trudge,
not west or east.

I surely can, certainly will.
so you can just scream yourself shrill
but I’ll not move or budge until
North-goers bow
or I make the whole world stand still!”
Foe Zax says “Wow!”

Well…the world’s unstill and it grew.
Of course, a new highway came through
built over the hullabaloo;
two stubborn Zax,
and left them there, standing eschew,
un-budged in tracks.
