MINUTE POETRY
Minute Poetry is actually a poem of three 4-line stanzas with a rhyme pattern of aabb. The syllable counts for each line are: 8, 4, 4, 4 – and that is repeated for EACH stanza. The meter here is iambic, meaning that your poem should have a pattern of unstressed and stressed syllables. 8a 4a 4b 4b 8a 4a 4b 4b 8a 4a 4b 4b PLAGUED WITH MONOTONY I wake and think about the day ahead, But stay in bed. My mind it roars Of tasks and chores. So up I rise to get mundane things done, But they’re not fun. I wash, I fold, I clean, I load. But why the same thing every single day? I’d rather play, Or sit and read, But chores impede.
