It was the middle
of the week.
A Wednesday to be exact
I played Hide and Seek
That was a fact

Our son turned one
five days before.
The day was full of fun.
and a time to explore.

He crawled more than walked,
and was unsteady on his feet.
He still wouldn't talk,
all he did was eat

I was unsteady too
with a bandage on my knee
I had just come home
from having surgery

I couldn't walk alone
and used a metal cane
With each step, I'd groan
and feel the immense pain

My day was going slow
but was still okay
What I wouldn't give
to relive that day
