AN ENIGMA FOR GENERATIONS

Unyieldingly in stamina
she keeps her charges strong with care,
a mother is an enigma;
disparaging nations beware.

The next generation won’t fall
because they're sturdy, meek and tall.
Though muted trumpets don't resound,
when roots are deep, we're safe and sound.

Another attempt at the "Rispetto":
[which consists of two quatrains, rhymed abab ccdd,
in iambic tetrameter.  Traditionally, this Tuscan
form of poetry paid "respect" to a woman].

Written for: "Rhythm & Rhyme Poetry Challenge and submitted
on Day 6 - January 23.  Also, submitted to
the "TRADITIONAL POETRY GROUP on January 30, 2009.
